About Pattern
- Tsurumaru-ume:
Cranes and plum blossoms are considered as a symbol of good fortune of longevity.
The design featuring pairs of facing cranes represents harmony and a happy relationship, expressing a wish for a long, peaceful, and healthy life.
- Fugu-tateoke:
Since antient times, the pufferfish had been called ‘fuku’, a word associated with ‘good fortune’ (‘fuku’ in Japanese).
In this design, the traditional Japanese pattern ‘tatewaku’ –which depicts rising stream or clouds and is regarded as an auspicious motif –is reimagined as bubble, expressing a joyful pattern to bring good luck.
