Fountain Pen ABC

How to refill fountain pen ink

Here is how to refill ink based on the ink style you use.

If you use cartridge ink

Cartridge ink is designed for single use in fountain pens. It is easy to use and convenient to carry.
Since the standard for cartridge inks may vary depending on the manufacturer, please make sure to use our specific cartridge ink for our fountain pens.

1. Remove the cap and take off the barrel.

2. Locate the ink cartridge slot (it’s the one with the concave or pointed arrow).

3. With the nib facing upward, insert the ink cartridge straight down into the back of the pen.

Note: Please be cautious not to twist or apply excessive force when inserting it, as this may damage the cartridge ink or the pen nib.

4. After reattaching the barrel, the ink will be drawn up from the pen nib, and the pen will be ready to write.

If you use converter

The ink inhaler converter allows you to use bottled ink.
You can choose any color of bottled ink you prefer, making this converter ideal for those who want to enjoy a variety of ink colors.
Please ensure that you use our converter designed for our fountain pens, as standards may vary among manufacturers.

1. Remove the cap and take off the barrel.

2. Insert the converter firmly into place.

3. Turn the converter knob in the direction of the arrow to lower the piston.

4. With the nib still in the bottle, insert the nib into the bottle of ink until the heart-shaped hole is submerged in the ink.
Some products may not be able to draw in ink up to the heart-shaped hole.
If that’s the case, immerse the product up to the gripping section in ink and then draw it in.

5. Slowly turn the knob in the direction of the arrow to fill the converter with ink.

6. Once the ink has been successfully drawn into the converter, reinsert the barrel. Wipe off any excess ink on the nib using a soft cloth or tissue paper.

If you use piston filling system fountain pen (PROFESSIONALGEAR REALO Fountain Pen ・ 1911 REALO Silver Fountain Pen)

The piston filling system, known as the “Realo,” is a type of fountain pen that can directly store ink in its body.
It offers a larger ink capacity compared to cartridge inks or converters, making it ideal for extended writing sessions.
Please note that ink inhaler converters and cartridge inks cannot be used with this type of pen.

1. Remove the cap and slowly turn the barrel end in the direction of the arrow until you feel resistance, as if you were opening a screw.
Note: If there is ink in the barrel, turning it may cause ink to be expelled, so be sure to wipe it off by wrapping it with a cloth.
Note: In the piston filling system type, the gripping section and barrel do not come apart.

2. Insert the nib into the bottle of ink until the heart-shaped hole is submerged.

3. Slowly turn the barrel end in the direction of the arrow to draw in the ink.
You can observe the ink level through the ink tank window.

4. Wipe off excess ink on the nib with a soft cloth or tissue paper
